The facilities of the Environmental Engineering Laboratories are diversified into standard
instruments as well as advanced stationary equipment, as required by various environmental
studies. The standard instruments can provide accurate measurement of routine environmental
analyses, such as DO, pH, COD, BOD5, ORP, salinity, conductivity, turbidity, etc. On top of that,
the advanced equipment include namely:
- A Total Organic Halogen system to measure the amount of TOX in liquid or solid samples (photo below);
- A UV/Vis Spectrophotometer for measuring absorbance or transmittance of liquid samples;
- A Florescence Spectrometer for analyzing luminescence samples;
- A programmable Tube Furnace with three control zones for various degree of combustion of different materials;
- A refrigerated centrifuge for sample preparation;
- A shaking incubator for mixing and culturing purposes;
- A vacuum rotary evaporator for solvent extraction.
